Portraits from Kerala

Picture this! It’s August 15th 2018
It has been raining non-stop for almost a week in Kerala. It is the occasion of Athachamayam festival in Tripunithura (near Ernakulam), which marks the beginning of Onam festivities.
Artists from all across the state, tourists & photographers from all across the world and India are waiting for the rain to stop. Some of these artists woke up quite early in the morning to start dressing up and get ready for the festival. But their wait doesn’t seem to end. Festival gets cancelled, disappointed faces can be seen all around. But to keep the spirits high, some of the artists start dancing and celebrating. People rejoice, but the sadness lingers in the air!
Next day, Kerala suffers from the worst flood since 1924.
Here are some portraits that I clicked on that fateful day!
